When Was Bon Jovi At There Best Live? Yes we know they have had some amazing indivdual concerts - Cincinnati in 1987 , New Years Eve Tokyo in 1988 ,
Milton Keynes in 1993 , Wembley In 1995 , Yokohama, Japan in 1996.

But in what years were they consistantly at there best?

I'm going to have to say between maybe 1988 and 1994. Jon was great with New Jersey and I love listening to shows from Keep The Faith.

from watching bootlegs I would say European Tour 1993. I think that's when the band was most "ROCK" so to say. Pirotechincs, great stage, amazing guitar parts, and wild crowds. Dortmund 1993 is a prime example. I would give anything to be able to attend that show.

Of course, These Days was excellent as well, but interaction in stadiums is more difficult than in arenas and BJ definitely knew how to ROCK arenas in 1993. I can't say much about the BJ, 7800 and SWW tours as I haven't seen much of those but some parts of the NJ tour must have been amazing to see.

I would summarize that as long as BJ stayed ROCK they were great. When they turned POP they lost some of that "grateness". It might be the other way around thoug: because they lost greatness they turned POP.

KTF Era. The Dortmund show kicked my ass and then some, and it was only through bootleg! Plus they still had the great Alec on bass. Once robo-bass took over, it wasn't as rocking.

1994/1995 for Crossroads and These Days and Have a Nice Day. I've seen every band tour since New Jersey and when I compare the shows, those are the eras that stand out.

Just listening to bootlegs from the SWW tour make me feel pain. Jon should have stopped for a month and healed instead of going on and on and on. That said, I also don't think you get a true enough sound from a bootleg to adequately judge them and compare them to seeing the band in person. The shows I attended on the Crush tour, for instance, sounded a lot better in person than on the bootlegs.

While i think Jon was at his best vocally and the band was perhaps never tighter than during the 90's (KTF/TD) I have to say that whenever i watch a older performance (circa SWW or NJ) I always get a little sad that i never got to see the band when they were that young. When they were at that point in there career they truly were the be all end all concert of the year to go to. I just always feel sad i was too young to experience that.

(cue me on the big screen) JBJ: "How good have you been? Oh My God!" (laughs, more teasing) JBJ: "You want it huh, you want it huh? Blood on Blood just for you, the good girl in the front row? The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3
