Default Best of Tracklist / Compromise

... I think we can all agree it's ridiculous for best of compilations to repeat tracks from other Best Of compilations... even though bands with many of these albums HAVE to do so; this would only be BJ's second (stateside) best of compilation. They would be foolish to repeat more than a couple of Crossroads tracks, because that would render a very popular Hits CD redundant.

Here is MY version, and I honestly think it is balanced, includes plenty of hits, and a couple of repeated tracks that still give the casual fan their money's worth. Whaddya say, BJ?

1. It's My Life
2. Who Says you Can't Go Home (w/ SugarBritches)
3. Living on a Prayer (Live from the New York Tribute Show)
4. Have a Nice Day
5. This Ain't a Love Song
6. Wanted (TLFR Version)
7. Misunderstood
8. Something For the Pain
9. Living in Sin
10. Sleep When I'm Dead (expose a mass audience to a song they play at EVERY concert, whydon'tya?)

11. I'll Be There For You (Live w/Ritchie)
12. Everyday
13. Thank You For Loving Me
14. She Don't Know Me (As if Jon would consent to this)
15. Never Say Goodbye
Wishful Thinking Bonus Track: Dry County

This is considering the Stateside hits. Overseas you'd have to throw Lie To Me in there and maybe take away Who Says or Sleep when I'm Dead for Lie to Me, Say it Isn't So, These Days, etc. Other than DC and She Don't Know Me I think this is a perfectly realistic, practical, and marketable track selection... could be called Crossroads 2 or some kind of extension ... Best of Bon Jovi 93-now blah blah.. Any thoughts, people?

KJ

My thoughts are that the summer has provided you with a lot of spare time.

i think she dont knowme is more wishful tinkin that dry county

BTW itll never happen

there will deffinatley be

LOAP
YGLABN
Bad Rx
always
etc

there has to be, youre right in assuming the casual fan wants to hear hits but maybe you dont understand that the casual fan may have only heard everything post crush

therefore these hits wil have to be included just incase theye oblivious to crossroad, plus the record comp;any probably wont allow a bon jovi greates hits without livin on a prayer and the like

also as much as bon jovi would like to put on songs such as dry county, most of these das, ill be there for you with richie on vox... it probably wont happen because there back catalouge is that big and is filled with that many hits that they would simply run out of space on the CD

which leads me to the assumption it will be a collection of singles.

and thats my two cents

gaz

you have to remember

Well, I think there are two possibility now for Bon Jovi to make this Best Of, either they make a "best of" of their whole career, or they make like a Crossroad 2. I would prefer the second option which could the following tracks:
1. This ain't a love song
2. Something for the pain
3. These days
4. It's my life
5. Thank you
6. One wild night
7. Everyday
8. Misunderstood
9. All about loving you
10. It's my life or Wanted dead or alive from TLFR
11. Have a nice day
12. Welcome to wherever you are
13. Who says you can't go home
14. New song
15. New song

If they choose (like it seems that will happen) to make a best of of their whole career, then there are some songs that must be on the cd: all their Nr. 1 and top 5 hits. So it's clear that they can't ignore Livin on a prayer, bad name, wanted, bad med and i'ill be there for you. So that would be IMO a tracklist like this:
1. Livin on a prayer
2. You give love a bad name
3. Wanted dead or alive
4. Bad medicine
5. I'll be there for you
6. Keep the faith
7. Bed of roses
8. Always
9. This ain't a love song
10. It's my life
11. Thank you for loving me
12. Everyday
13. Have a nice day
14. Who says you can't go home
15. New song
(16. New song ?, Blaze of glory?)

They should put stuff they left off of Crossroad i.e. Born To Be My Baby, Never Say Goodbye, Living in Sin, then It's My Life, Who Says, HAND, Everyday, This Ain't A Love Song, then of course the must haves Prayer, Bad Name, Bad RX, I'll Be there For You, Always and then 2 new songs of course.

I'd love to see In these Arms on there too but it's doubtful to make it.

The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

I'll eat my words if I'm wrong, but I'm almost positive that they will release a greatest hits volume 2, with tracks from these days to have a nice day, with two new songs.

A double disc won't sell - everyone already has crossroad - so the double is too much for the casual fan. It's a record company nightmare. And I don't think Jon is greedy like that, I really don't. He cares about product.

However, if they have volume 2 with have a nice day and it's my life on it (obviously) plus a new major hit single, it will sell no problem. All they need is another monster a la Always, and they are set for another catalogue album that will sell on the billboard charts for another ten years.

I would love if they picked up missed tracks from the first best of, like Livin in sin, in these arms, edge of a broken heart, and even added neurotica and dirty little secret - but it won't happen. They skipped over these songs before, and they will again.

I am really looking forward to this GHV2, with these days to have a nice day. And casual fans will really be happy when they hear the song, "This Ain't A Love Song" - I mean, I don't think this song is that well known to North America, and it can be the new love song they never knew Bon Jovi had!

Well, I am against repeating tracks from Crossroad too! They got enough 'hits' since Crossroad. Including LOAP etc etc will help sales a little bit but not that much. Someone else suggested putting a sticker that says "Includes the great hit It's My Life", this will sell the compilation for sure.

If they had to repeat tracks, I suppose LOAP, YGLABN, WDOA, Bad Rx, IBTFY and KTF will make it. Maybe Always too, that's a whopping 7 tracks, half the album. What a waste of space. If you want these tracks, go buy Crossroad, it's not out of print. A compilation should advertise a band's lesser known album through a few hit tracks (in this case I think It's My Life, Who Says You Can't Go Home and Have A Nice Day will suffice).

My 'Crossroad Part 2' will be like this:

1. It's My Life (biggest hit since Crossroad - much like LOAP)
2. These Days (killer title track of an album not that popular in US, equivalent of KTF, and KTF wasn't THAT popular in US either - yes I know it went 3x platinum but it wasn't as big as SWW or NJ)
3. New Track
4. New Track (OTSG? We gotta get AT LEAST 2 new tracks!)
5. Who Says You Can't Go Home (The band's 'theme song' just like Wanted. Include the country version since it hit #1 and it's infinitely better because of Sugarland)
6. One Wild Night (remix from that stupid live album - rockin live track just like LYHOM)
7. Have A Nice Day (Rocking hit song with some 'attitude', just like YGLABN)
8. This Ain't A Love Song (ballad time, in place of BOR)
9. Midnight In Chelsea (Need a Jon solo track to satisfy Jon's ego)
10. Wanted 2003 (Need a remix of a well known track like Prayer 94 - note: I hate Wanted and I hate the TLFR version even more)
11. Everyday (another rocking 'hit' in place of Bad Rx - I use the term 'hit' very loosely here)
12. Thank You For Loving Me (Ballad time again, in place of IBTFY)
13. Radio Saved My Life Tonight (a spot for an 'obscure' song, just like IAOOL and we gotta represent the box set!)
14. Misunderstood (uhhh I don't know what's the 'Runaway' equivalent after Crossroad, I chose Misunderstood because of the great video)

That looks roughly how I'd expect it to be. I don't think there is room on a single CD for tracks from Crossroad and ones since. We'll just have to wait ad see I suppose.
