OK so i got into Bon Jovi seriously like less than a year ago. Album's are kinda expensive and so far I've bought Keep the Faith, Slippery When Wet, New Jersey, These Days and Crush in that order. Which album should I buy next, i.e. which remaining album is best? This can include solo projects as I've heard that destination anywhere is very good.

Also have a look on ebay as all their albums are quite cheap on there.

Oh ok well I obviously loved all the albums. My favourite songs off each are Dry County, Livin' on a prayer, Bad Medicine, My Guitar lies bleeding, and Two Story Town. I think my favourite album (although this changes) so far is These Days just because I liked the darker feel. But I also really liked New Jersey as i liked the original and experimental style of the songs. Also i liked Crush's exciting anthems.

I don't really want a greatest hits as I feel you often miss out on "hidden gems" which might no be that popular but are what you really like.

I see what you mean, but if you got the greatest hits, you could just listen to it, find out what songs u like, then get the albums they are on. Hope that makes sense!

Plus Crossroads is worth having for 'Always' alone!!

Here's a simple breakdown of the remaining albums for you, pick the one that most sounds like the thing you'd like:

Bon Jovi: Gritty 80s pop-metal, great guitar work, somewhat naive songwriting, some very high vocals

7800 - A heavier, rawer, darker and better (IMO) version of the first album

Blaze Of Glory - A mix of 70s style blues rock numbers, and soaring epic rock ballads ... fantastically written and the vocals are incredible

Stranger In This Town - Very bluesy, also fantastically written, and Richie's voice is also fantastic throughout, and the guitar work is so soulful

Destination Anywhere - Sort of alternative pop ... again well written, vocally and musically about what you'd expect for an album between These Days and Crush, its quite different to any of the other albums though

Undiscovered Soul - Less bluesy and more radio friendly than Stranger ... soulful blues pop rock, if that makes any sense!

Bounce - Very varied, simultaneously contains some of their heaviest material since Keep The Faith, and possibly the poppiest material they've ever recorded ... It also for the most part has simpler song structures and short songs, but is quite experimental in terms of sound

Have A Nice Day - Essentially a modern rock album as performed by Bon Jovi, it's solid with some good (and some great) songs, but its not very daring

I can highly recomment Blaze of Glory - Jon's first solo record. The cowboy theme gets a little old (for me anyway) but the quality of his vocals just blows all my objections away. Santa Fe is one of the best songs that he has ever written in my opinion - and there are quite a few other excellent tracks on the album too.

For a band album I would probably go for 7800 Fahrenheit if you particularly like the 80's harder rock. A lot of people hate this album (including the band) but I have always found a lot to like about it. If you dislike the harder 80's sound then go for Have a Nice Day before buying Bounce.
