I was just listening to "Real Life", the original version not the butchered box set remix heh, and got curious. What was your impression of the song after such a long wait between TD and the ED TV soundtrack?

I was totally taken by surprise by it. It was completely different. At that time my fave bands were Slayer and Sepultura so I was quite disappointed. I expected some sort of "Good Guys" especially cause it was the soundtrack for a movie... I never digged the song until I guess Bounce came out. Then I started appreciating it. It's a decent song. Postcards from The Wasteland reminds me a lot of it somehow.

Yep, definitely struck me as a little different but still had the Bon Jovi sound, in my opinion. I actually also appreciate the song much more now then I did when I first heard it.

I guess. I mean to me, if I was waiting that long, I'd be dying of excitement for ANYTHING the band released.

I saw some video on youtube with Jon talking about the song around the time the video was filmed and he mentioned that the song was written for the movie which isn't even true, it was (well an earlier version of it) was one of the SS demos. Weird. Anyways...

Have to say it really wasnt a big deal for me.

Looking back you can see the huge gap but at the time it didnt feel that way for me. I remember the time as Destinantion Anywhere and Undiscovered Soul and was lucky to go to Japan and Europe to see Jon solo and saw Richie in Australia. So that kept my focus off band stuff.

I loved it and thought it sounded very much like I'd expect a Bon Jovi song to sound. And, yeah, I think I was salivating at the idea of a new Jovi song by that point. The These Days to Crush period seemed 10 times longer than the NJ to KTF period.

It was different but I liked it. As Becky just said - some of us were primed for anything new.

I love "Real Life". one of the best choruses ever. Great passionate vocal from Jon. especially when he sings the line "these are REAL WOUNDS I'm bleeding from" cuts right through ya. def top 5 jovi songs. I remember when it first came out I left it on repeat the whole day. my roommate thought I was mental.

destination anywhere def kept me satisfied in between These Days and Crush. Jon always has something out within a 2 to 3 year period. I am very thankful for the continous quality music without any major delayz. I think we all should be thankful, when you look @ Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Metallica, AC/DC etc etc, I mean waiting 6-7 years for a new cd? In some cases bands just stop making music altogther from the 80's heyday. Keep The Faith is def the monumenatal rock disc of the grunge era.
