Default Geffen records?

I was looking at the Memory clip on Youtube published by "universalmusicgroup" and it says that the song is copyrighted by Geffen. Here the link:
Have they stopped working with Def Jam? I guess both Geffen and Island are anyway Universal companies but does any of you know this change came about (if it actually did)

Edit: this was meant to be in the New releases forum. Sorry!

I remember Jon saying somewhere that he asked his record lable to temporarally release him from their deal so he could go and make this album. I've no idea why the band couldn't have made the album with the deal Jon already had with Def Jam but I guess Geffen was the company he hooked up with for this album.

interesting. had no idea about that. that's good though. Geffen has released some of teh greatest albums ever...from Apetite for Destruction to Nevermind to the Black Album by Metallica. Maybe LH will be in the same league with those :P (dream on)

Geffen probably handles the copyrights for Mercury Nashville, which is where Jon went for this record. It all belongs to the same company just separate divisions.

I thought Geffen belongs to Sony/BMG? It's the record company where Aerosmith are.

Just curious.

Nope, it definitely belongs to Universal. Might have been a subdivision of Sony in the past but nowadays it's definitely Universal. And yes, Aerosmith do have a deal with them.
