Default Unplugged conclusion

Ok, the other Unplugged topics, about RS cocking it up with reports courtesy of perezhilton.com, never really came to any conclusions.

Is Perezhilton making a mountain outta a mole-hill? A lot of sites have taken what they said as the truth.

Reports that I have read from people who were there (with no agenda) have said that the only thing they noticed was Richie having problems with the last vocal on Wanted. They assumed that he was exhausted after 3 1/2 hours onstage. I've read this from more than 1 person so I would assume that Richie did not totally disgrace himself. Was he on the top of his game - probably not but I doubt that he was a disaster either.

So I would still assume that Perezhilton was making a mountain out of a molehill.

I guess that we will have to watch the shows next week and decide for ourselves.

Kathleen

I'm agree with Kathleen. I've talked to 4 different people that were there and they all said in no way was Richie trashed. They've all seen him trashed, (a la the Misunderstood video, lol). All of them said, if anything, he seemed a bit quiet and much more reserved than usual. He apologized for his voice not being the best but that was it.

According to people who were there Richie's guitar was out of tune at Wanted. That's it.

...which would make sense given that he is having to build up a rapport with a new guitar tech after years of working with Lumpy who was extremely accomplished at his job

To be honest, Richie doesn't have to be drunk to struggle with the last line of Wanted. Anybody who has the Heineken Music Hall performance from 2005 should take a look at the version of 'Wanted' on that. Richie fluffs the exact same line VERY noticeably cos the camera is on him as a close-up and he just backs off the mic so it's less audible..... but he wasn't drunk.

If that's the only place he messed up, I think that there's been an ever so slight over reaction to the performance. Maybe it was more noticeable as it was an 'unplugged' version. Maybe he didn't back off the mic in the same way as he did in the Amsterdam show. It would strike me as very strange how such damning reports would surface on the basis of this fluff up alone though, so there's either more to it than that or something has also happened previously that the media has gotten wind of and were just waiting for him to give them an opportunity to pounce.

Perhaps, in light of the trauma he has suffered recently, they were just waiting for him to fall of the wagon? The media wouldn't do something as callous as that though would they?
