So i sw don rickles new book at the library and just finished it and read about the actual "author" who it said had written autobiographies with many famous recording acts including Bon Jovi!

Dont know if this is new news but i excited when i found this:

Bon Jovi Cancels Book

Bon Jovi canceled the deal for the band's upcoming book, Believe, Contact Music reported. In April, Flying Dolphin Press, the book's publisher, canceled a benefit concert scheduled for BookExpo America, saying the publication date for the book had been postponed.

Last week, Jon Bon Jovi said that the band did not want to share so much information about their private lives and so they canceled the deal. Recently, band members David Bryan and Richie Sambora both went through divorces and Sambora has also dealt with the death of his father and rehab.

"One of those big publishers gave us a million dollars recently to write a book about our experiences but we just gave the money right back because it's no one's business," Jon Bon Jovi said, according to Contact Music. "They wanted the clichéd story about being a rock star and I'm not going to tell them. It doesn't mean it didn't happen, it just means isn't there anything more to talk about."

Jon is right, there is certainly more to talk about, and I do hope that the band will embark on a book project in the future, which focuses on the music itself and maybe also on the band dynamics, for example in writing the music etc. There was recently an authorized book like that published about Rush and it was rather excellent.

To be honest, i'd much prefer a book to be written from someone inside the jovi family, not the band. If it was the band writing, there'd be no 'dirt', just a very scripted and polished version of events.

I really enjoyed 'Starman' by their ex-security manager. That's the kind of book I want to read.

How much of "Starman" is about Bon Jovi? In other words, is it worth buying for just the Bon Jovi part?

The main bulk of the book is Bon Jovi (I'd say around 40%). It's well worth reading even if there was no jovi in it. A good view of what life is really like on the road with some of the worlds biggest acts.

There's stuff in there that would never had heard about - Tico stealing Bubbles the chimp, suspected snipers in the crowd, the zuccini twins, the lost weekend... Great stuff.
