Default Last Man Standing - do you share the love?

When talking about cassic Bon Jovi songs the usual suspects come up - Prayer, Wanted, Dry County etc... I have to say that I'd probably put Last Man Standing very close, if not up there with the best. I can't help but get excited when I hear it and the build as the song progresses - it really draws me in and makes me feel like I'm in the presence of something great. There are also some fab air guitar bits which always adds to the greatness of a song.

When looking at the recent 'favourite song from each album' thread I noticed a few people joining me in putting it as their favourite song from HAND, just wondering what the opinion of Last Man Standing is from everyone?

You know, when I first heard it on the Borgota DVD I thought "fantastic", why isn't this on the album....

And then they pop it on HAND, and I became utterly bored with it very quickly. Usually skip it now. It's usually live versions I listen to, and the live version of this is very rarely played in my house.

I personally love it, but I do prefer the TLFR/Box Set version to the one on HAND.

Lyrically and musically one of the best songs they've made the last decade, but not brilliant enouht to be compared with most of the older tracks. As so many Bon Jovi fans, I'm glorifying the past, but Last Man Standing is a proof that they are still capable of making great music! Me too prefare the Boxset version of it, even though I generally prefare the more rocking part of BJ.

Exactly how I felt/feel. It had so much promise to be a big song, but I can't help but feel disappointed by it. I also felt it was a bit of a let down as an opener on the Have a Nice Day tour.

I'm not a big fan of HAND but that is without a doubt one of the best songs ever, the singing and everything is just great

I enjoy both versions, but I think the song'slyrics fit better with a "hard, defiant" style, such as HAND.

I agree. I loved it at the Borgata when I heard the whole thing. But now - having heard the HAND version a lot on the last tour - I went back and listened to the original version a few weeks ago. In my mind - the HAND version wins... er.... um.....hands down

one of my favorite bon jovi songs ever...however, I like the original version better. I absolutely love the guitar in the HAND version, but I dunno, I just like the original version better because it's slower paced, more emotion is shown, and I think it the message of the song gets across better that way. I also think that Jon's voice sounds better lower key when there's not heavy guitar around it and when the instrumentation is slower and softer. But hey, don't get me wrong, I LOVE both versions..just a personal opinion.
