Default Bon Jovi in spanish

Why have done these versions? Are there a special reason for they doing spanish versions of some songs? Is it just for "fun" or trying out new ideas or is it to please the spanish talking fans?
And to all the spanishtalking people: How is Jons spanish? Good or bad?

Spanish is very widely spoken and it was probably considered a huge potential market. Too bad that they started something they never really bothered continuing, especially when it comes to South America.

Bon Jovi was also incredibly popular in Spain in the 1990s.

Jon's Spanish is not too too bad, but not brilliant either. Some words are quite 'imaginatively' pronounced Although he was better than I had expected at talking Spanish spontaneously in the concert in Madrid in 2003. Not to say he was fluent or anything but still he surprised me. He also changed the line from These Days that goes 'His momma said he was crazy' to 'his momma said you are loco'

Agreed Some words sure as hell don't sound like any Spanish I've heard...

Thanks! So you can say it was done for commercial reasons?

In America, the Hispanics are a HUGE minority. (From my understanding) almost to not even become a minority and move to the majority. To include fans thru-out the international world.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me!
I understand Richie has done some songs in spanish too. I'm not sure I've heard those, I might be wrong.
Same reason for him? How's Richies spanish?

A new question appears in my head:
Can Jon real talk spanish? I mean isn't his father (half)italian. I presume he can talk italian a little bit then, but spanish? Isn't spanish and italian very diffrent?
To sum up: Did Jon (and Richie) had to learn spanish to do these songs? If so I guess it's a big compliment to the spanishtalking fans.

Yea, it's a compliment to the people, but I would say the $$$$. Huge market for the Latinos (I mean, look at the gazillion turnout in Puerto Rico the other day).

Let's not forget that Tico speaks fluent Spanish.

One year, BJovi made an appearance at a Spanish talk show in Miami and mainly Tico spoke for the group. The host could also speak English, but they had to combine both languages so the audience could comprehend. Was amazed at the audience, they were crazy about BJovi. The host was saying that the people were camped outside of the studio for days, blah blah blah, and were screaming for the guys. Another year they performed in Mexico and the crowd was blazing. Here in America, the Latinos have these huge concerts for their own artists, it's really a big market. Jon's a savvy businessman, he wants a piece of that market....

Yes, Riche does have one or two songs in Spanish two. I hardly remember them though, and don't think I have them, si I can't really say.

Andno, they didn't learn Spanish just to sing. They just learned the lyrics. In Madrid 2003 when Jon was 'speaking' Spanish he said it was 'high-school' Spanish so perhaps he learned a bit then?

I'm not saying it's not a compliment. One thing does not exclude the other.
