Default Mam Dramatically Flops In Uk Singles Chart

MAM crawled into the UK top 40 at number 33!! Their worst charting debut in recent years! To memory (pardon the pun) its the worst run since 2000 at least.

Why? No airplay
No expectation, its the 1st time they've released a lead single after the album itself, so the fans usually rush to the shops to hear the new record on single - a taster for the album. Very disappointing.

In related chart news, i correctly predicted LH would slip out of the top 10, it sank from 4 to 13. In US they are number 1 flyers, over here without lack of any decent promo (but check out Classic Rock + Q this month - good features on Bon Jovi) this under-performance will continue.

In further related chart news, you think Bon Jovi had a poor debut in the singles chart, then spare a poor thought for Brandon-Plant Pot-Flowers, of the Killers, they were 20 places lower than the jove at 53!! It could be worse!

Didn't really expect anything else for the single, silly way to release it.

On the note of Q.....the Jovi article was okay, but did you actually read the LH review?

At one point it describes Stranger as sounding the same as Wanted: Dead Or Alive. I wanna' know what drugs the reviewer was taking to come to that conclusion. Wasn't a good review either....something about Jovi doing exactly the same songs as always, so don't think the reviewer actually listened to the album.

The band surely know this would happen when they decided ro release a "country" album. Success in US, indifference around the world, but that is their wish, otherwise they would have to give us a REAL world tour and like Jon said, they're not in that mood anymore.

Do you think they should have chosen WGIGO ? Some here might not like it that much but it might have been more radio friendly .

I'd have picked Summertime myself - seems very anthem-esque and is quite fitting given the time of year, though the weather may not agree!

The Killers is the 4th song off the album though, and it hasnt even been physically released yet.

No excuses for BJ. Pathetic from the record company once again.

no air play, album already out. Album sold well , therefore its not because of the quality of MAM its because Ukers are not stupid and will buy and album if its released before a single !

It was a daft idea to release it on 7inch vinyl (who the hell has a record player these days!) they would have got in the top 20 if it had been two CD's with decent bonus tracks.

I'm just hoping the next single has some live tracks from the 02.
