Default Unplugged - Not impressed

At least with the MTV version.

Why the hell does Jon insist on playing Bad Name like that??? Pisses me off. He admitted after the failure of TLFR, fans didn't buy it because they were "messing with their memories". Yet, he still does it.

Bon Jovi could do such a kick ass Unplugged. Just do it acoustically, not in this dance-like-Elvis, swing style bullshit.

Why did MTV even bother airing this? 4 songs. Not one from the new album.

Sorry to bitch, but it's like having your kids bring home an "F" on their history test when you know they could get an "A".

I thought the version of YGLABN was fantastic. It is supposed to be an acoustic show, so they couldn't have done it like the album version. It was better than the version on TLFR, and I liked how he added in "Hit the Road, Jack" to the performance. Although it was pretty much a waste of time to watch it on MTV, as it was only 4 songs, I still thought the band did a good job in those 4 songs.

I thought it was fine. I never had a problem with that rendition of Bad Name. Do I prefer it to the real version? Of course not. But it IS an acoustic show. (The crowd certainly seemed to like it).

Now, I wasn't too hot on only 4 songs, but that's MTV's doing, not Bon Jovi. If you would recall, VH1 and CMT's airings will be longer, and air new material. MTV doesn't really give a shit about Bon Jovi and just wanted to air hits that people would recognize.

So please, I know some of us are eager to blame Bon Jovi for any lackluster thing that happens, but blame this particular spot on MTV, not Bon Jovi. To continue this weak analogy, its moreso like your kid was bringing home an A, but then that assclown bully beat him up and stole the paper.

For those interested, the MTV set list was...

Livin on a Prayer
You Give Love a Bad Name
It's My Life (with All-American Rejects)
Who Says You Can't Go Home

You can watch it at MTV.com right now.

Yes he did. He has done similar versions way before this. I have a similar version from a radio show in 2002 (I think) and I saw them do a similar version in Hartford in 2003 including the Hit the Road Jack part.
