First of all, they habe such a great bandwith, that they aren't just a Rockband.

The main reason is, that Americans listen to different style of music than eg. Europeans. And Europe has been (hope it is getting better : ) ) on a pop-music trip, that the Band has to adapt their music to the customers.

Isn't that just being commercial and having sold out?

The band should record the music they want and if people like it then all the better - NOT the other way round. This is one of the reasons why the band get slagged off so much because they try and write something to appeal to everyone for commercial not musical reasons.

I am very dissappointed if they have recorded a rock and pop version to suit different audiences.

The album version is what we're hearing (if we're lucky) the even heavier version is being sent to some stations in the US.

THe official answer is that the International radio version is the album version and some US stations are getting the harder rock version. The official BJHQ answer is below:

hey Oompas! In a previous question, you answered something about a rock version and an album version. I'm still very confused about this, can ya help me out? Which version are we hearing on the radio? And is there a huge difference between them? Thanks for all you do.
asked by Sam on Thursday, August 8

Answer:
There is an album version of the song (that's what's on the radio overseas off the promotional cd that went to radio) and there's a rock mix of the song (slightly harder edged... that's going to certain radio stations stateside.)
