Smashing Pumpkins singer admits the reunion has not met expectations...
Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan admitted in a new interview that the band's reactivation after a seven-year hiatus hasn't exactly gone according to his wishes, especially when it came to introducing new songs and band members to the fans. Corgan explained, "You're standing onstage and hearing people going, 'I don't know how I feel about this.' We found that America had turned every older band into the reunion band. It was 'I just want to hear those eight songs and drink my beer.' You think, 'I'm 41 years old, and I've earned some level of trust.' And you find out you're just like everybody else. You're no better than Bon Jovi."
The band's 2007 album, Zeitgeist, did not sell as well as anticipated, and the Pumpkins subsequently parted with Warner Bros. Records, who Corgan says gave "zero support" to the group.
