Default Questions From A Newish Fan

I am not really a newish fan, I just don't know jack about the band compared to the rest of you guys, so I thought y'll might be a good source of information! Can I ask a few questions I'd love the answers to?

1. When did Jon get his Superman tattoo, and why did he get it?

2. What is that weird sounding thing that Ritchie plays sometimes - like in It's My Life and LOAP? He blows into it and it makes funny sounds.

3. The song Living In Sin is about a young couple who are having sex before they married. I have heard that the clip ends with the young girl running away with her boyfriend, but the video I have doesn't show this, it seems to fade out. The lyrics seem to be saying that it's okay to have sex before marriage (correct me if I am wrong) but the video suggests otherwise, with the woman being taken from her boyfriend by her parents. I'm a little confused.

4. Jon is a Democrat, and was raised a Catholic, according to what I have read. Democrats seem more likely to support certain things that Catholics are opposed to, such as abortion and gay rights. Do Jon's beliefs clash with his faith at all, or is he more 'relaxed' than other religious folk may be?

5. I read on this site that Jon has said something about his wife not minding if he 'goes on the sly'. I have no idea what this means. In Australia, I guess we'd interpret it to meen he could see other women, but surely this isn't right? I imagine you guys have a different interpretation of this term?

6. Can someone give me a list of all songs released by the band? I'm trying to get all the videos and I don't think I have them all yet.

7. Silly question - but what was the very first song they ever released? My guess would be Runaway, seeing it was their first 'hit' song, but I'm not 100% sure.

8. How do you say Jon's wife's name? Is it said the same as Dorothy, but with different spelling, or is it with 'ee-ah' on the end?

9. What kind of guitar does Ritchie prefer to play?

I may have some more, but that's enough for now. If you can give me the answers, I'll really, really, appreciate it.
Thanks.

2. It's a talkbox. (His name's spelled "Richie", btw).

3. There are two versions of Living in Sin video (One was deemed too steamy and banned on MTV I think?). I can't remember which one has the girl running away to be with the guy... I think it *might* actually be the "cleaner" version, which if my memory serves me had more storyline to it.

4. Raised Catholic but he's been reported to say that he's not that into organised religion.

5. He's talked about how he's no saint, I think that's what you're referring to. But I won't pretend to know the intricate details of their relationship.

6. How many years have you got?

7. Runaway.

8. Dorothy with an 'ah' on the end.

In 1989 and because he felt like a Superman.

It's a talkbox and he doesn't blow in it. The tube brings the sound of the guitar amplifier into his mouth and he controls the sound by moving his lips and mouth. The sound is then picked up by a microphone and played to the audience.

It's about a young couple in love and their parents don't approve it. And the video you saw was the censored version.

From what I can see he's not a practicing catholic. He may be raised as one, but he doesn't flaunt it.

First song released by the band was actually Love Lies, as the band doesn't play on Runaway. It's a bunch of studio musicians (like Hugh McDonald). But under the name Bon Jovi, it's the first song.

"ee-ah" at the end.

Many different ones. He's played Kramers, Les Pauls, Stratocasters etc. Nowadays he usually plays custom guitars built for him, or prototypes like the Floyd Rose guitar he played a while back.

I just re-read question 6. I interpreted as a list of every track on every version of every album + every version of every single they've ever released anywhere in the world....... But did you simply mean a list of all the singles?

I never knew there was a cencored version of Livin' In Sin.Only ever seen the version on New Jersey: The Videos and Cross Road: The Videos.

Then again, with quite a steamy vid to hot for MTV, there's bound to be I guess. Something new I've learnt today anyway.

Was She Don't Know Me released before Runaway? Love Lies was a Runaway B-side.

I believe it was 1987. He said he initially wanted to get "Bon Jovi New Jersey" like the patch on the back of Alec's jacket (yes, Alec had one prior to the jacket Jon was wearing on the NJ sleeve), but the tattoo artist told him it was too similar to a biker gang's symbol and if he ran into one of them, they'd "rip his arm off and beat him with the wet end of it." A Superan logo was on the wall so he said, "I'll take that one." He said it fit because he was flying during the shows and he felt like Superman.
