Just listening to this thinking how brilliant it is. You know it doesn't matter who or what you compare it to. Bon Jovi peak or whatever is irrelevant because in 2008 that is astonishing. Jesus Jon really pulled it off that night didn't he. Would he have known that they would make a dvd using that night? If so, do you think thats why he gave an extra push because from looking at other nights it seems to conquer all before it in that year and of course anything since 96. Obviously Richie took it too another level with that double solo! Really looking forward to the finished, polished product of this.

SORRY THIS MIGHT HAVE BEEN BETTER IN TOUR DISCUSSION. WASN'T SURE

Aloha !

That's not the best version. Amsterdam was the best version, thats where Jon peaked on Always on the Lost Highway Tour. And yes, obviously Jon knew they were shooting a DVD that night, it's why he tries so hard on the performance and tried so hard the entire show.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Ah - but the recording from MSG is a lot easier to listen to than all the chattering Dutch fans in Amsterdam

I've watched quite a few versions of the song from last tour (not the Amsterdam one so I'll go have a look) but I haven't seen one version come close to the one at Hampden. Richie's solo was just immense at the end. The MSG solo was uninspired in comparison IMO and Richie played with a lot more freedom and feeling at the Glasgow show.

I can't really say if you're wrong because in the end it's a matter of taste, but Richie did the big guitar solo in the end for the first time on the tour, and really nailed it. It was a world of difference compared the the uninspired endings he had given the song so far.

At MSG Richie overdoes it, way too many bends, fills and whatever he could come up with. It's merely a show off instead of a proper guitar solo.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

IMO a show in europe would have been better from this tour, that said maybe the LH songs are more suited to an indoor venue.

Always

Whatever version you prefer there is no denying that this was an amazing performance of a song that many (me included) never expected to hear live again.

Good performance but I think the Amsterdam performance can't be topped.
