Good examples from their catalogue.

Raise Your Hands
I'd Die For You
Livin' On A Prayer
Wanted Dead Or Alive
Lay Your Hands On Me
Homebound Train
If I Was Your Mother
Something For The Pain
Damned

are also based on riffs

They've done tonnes of rock songs that are riff heavy, virtually everything from the 80s (Let It Rock and Lay Youd Hands both have awesome riffs), quite a bit of the 90s material, and some of the 00s material. Riff rock won't be anything earth shattering for them, but should hopefully be refreshing after a bit too much poppy/mid paced 00s songs

they're an 80s band, what the hell, almost everything from the 80s and 90s was riff based and even plenty of 00 songs have sold riffs.

I think, what Jon might have meant, is that this time the songs were written beginning with the RIFF, something they have only rarely done (LYHM is one of the few, at least according to Jon and Richie in several interviews).

Born To Be My Baby has quite a rock riff? Sounds very similar to that of the demo version of Livin' On A Prayer on the boxset.
