Default Let's see how quickly this can be done...

...because this is for, like, tomorrow, and it's getting rather late-ish here, and I was too busy doing my French portfolio which I had 2 months to do but chose today to do to come to this.

So, for tomorrow, my English Lit teacher said that to lighten up on all them Shakespearean sonnets we've been doing, well why don't we all bring in song lyrics - they are, after all, poetry as well.

Sure, I could choose anyone who's got (easily) subtle, respected lyrics, but I WANT Jovi lyrics so I could at LEAST give the guys a half-decent name on the musical front, since everyone either dislikes them/loathes them/any other bad thing you could think of.

To use the words of the aforementioned teacher, "No songs that go 'ooooh baby I love you', no, I want them to say something, please." So yeah, obviously none of that stuff.

After giving it some real thought I've narrowed it down to (what else than?) TD. Maybe The Answer (yes, I am aware that that's a Richie song). Not Dry County, I couldn't see myself presenting that song in an English class. Any opinions are appreciated, and of course demos would work fine. I really just can't think of anything else at the moment that would really hit it home in High-Level IB English Lit class. =(

Thanks in advance, really =)

King Of The Mountain should work.

Let's Make It Baby.

Seriously though, I think you should consider 'Something To Believe In' as a possibility. Great track as well.

I love Santa Fe to bits, but it's just too..loud The best part of the song is the vocal work and music, IMO, anyway.

Considered, I was thinking of the NJ version with Richie's whole "I want to f*ck you" on the talkbox at the end, too.

It really is, but I'd always gotten the feeling that it was just a bit forceful and a bit too blatant, if you get what I mean.

I like real life, the subtlety might be lacking but the comparison between life on screen and life as we experience is quite interesting and you have some very quotable lyrics.

Personally I think the lyrics from These Days (the song) are some of the best and are still very timely.
