Default Can of Worms Time

Awrite folks,

I woke up and thought about this first thing.

Why is it that Bon Jovi are continually derided by critics et all?

Now I've been a fan for nearly seventeen years (i'm only 24!) and admit that they boys are somewhat past their best.

However live they kick ass indeed i seen them last year and it was far better than the bounce tour, HAND tour and wasnt far off the One Wild Night tour.

What i really dont understand is that on a thread here the other day....a young fan was saying how he loved them only for someone to pipe up with

"it only get's better from now-soon you'll like Springsteen!"

I'm sorry, i know he's a hero to many on here and indeed Bon Jovi but what is with the hero worship of this guy?!?!

I don't get it!

I seen him at hampden this year and wow what an entertainer but his songs for the most part are non-melodic rambles!

I know he's written some great songs but they're exceptions as opposed to the rule!

In my opinion Jon and Richie are far better songwriters than the Boss.

Rant over!

While I don't actually disagree, you're about to get eaten by the Lions my friend.

Jon and Richie are indeed better songwriters IMO, they know how to craft a song and are good musicians.

But they also write some terrible lyrics sometimes which makes them easy targets.

1. He changes his sets in an interesting way every night.
2. He plays requests every night.
3. He gives 100% every night.
4. He writes his own songs and doesn't use Max Martin's and John Shanks'.
5. He never wrote 15 versions of Born In The USA because it was a big hit.
6. He never wrote songs like Complicated, Capt. Crash and She's A Mystery.
7. He doesn't moan about going on tour.
8. He has actually something to say when he writes a song.
9. He doesn't get upset when someone in his band makes a mistake.
10. He doesn't do the "I give 70% here because this crowd is not as good as that crowd thing.

And the list goes on and on...I'm not a fan of Bruce Springsteen at all but not understanding why he is liked among so many people is just silly.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Just because you don't like his songs doesn't mean they're gash. Springsteen is considered a great songwriter because unlike Jon and Richie he doesn't need a co-writer to write a great song and the fact that you're suggesting that he could use a co-writer makes it obvious that you're pretty clueless when it comes to what a good songwriter is.

I don't like his songs but I can understand why they're great. He's written many albums that are considered as classics by so many people. If you can't see why that's really your problem.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

i m clueless why?

see i don't bow to the general consencus here.

loads of people buy artic monkey records...does that make them good?

Cheryl Cole was number one? is she a great artist?

springsteen is average as a songwriter. his gift is being a performer.

Bon Jovi on the other hand are great live and have far more great songs than Bruce!

IMO

I love Bon Jovi more than any other artist but I still don't think Bruce has written half as much wank as Bon Jovi have...
