Default What if old albums were re-recorded

If Bon Jovi re-recorded Slippery, Jersey, Faith, or TD in today's times, I wonder what they would sound like.

With Jon's voice now and these post 2000+ producers, I wonder if we'd lump those albums with the rest of the post 2000 music?

Did we basically get that from TLFR?

It wouldn't work to be honest. For obvious reasons about Slippery and New Jersey, but for Keep The Faith and These Days the raw edge and that wouldn't be there.

In my dreams, Bon Jovi would release an album that took songs they weren't completely satisfied with and had decided to rework. For instance, while I love Keep the Faith (album), I wish it had the post-solo breakdown or the outro solo the live versions have. Or what about a version of Undivided that isn't overproduced and has Jon extending the bridge before the final chorus like he does live ("uuuuuuuuuuu-up")? Or maybe an edgier Have A Nice Day.

Not that it'll ever happen. But fun to think about.

Everything before Crush re recorded would be way worse than the original. No doubt about it. Jon can't do any of them justice

The edgier HAND (= the demo version) should replace the one on the album. It΄s a prime example how overproducing makes a solid rock song less powerful.

We would hate it worse than when they messed with the songs and gave us This Left Feels Right.

yeah! re-releasing the newer records without overproduction. The single instrumental and vocal tracks are lying somewhere around for sure.

I always think about how Crush would've sounded if Bruce Fairbarn hadn't died.

it would be disastrous and also make you look at the originals in a different light, which is wrong. i agree that the sheer rawness of keep the faith and these days defined those records as great and sadly the band have abandoned that approach to making music now.
