just another question for you guys to ponder

we all recognise its my life put bon jovi back in fans lives and also helped gain new ones, but what happened if there was no its my life, or it didnt do that well?? would we still have the jovi we have today?? would one wild night or everyday have become the big hits?? would we have had different songs on the future albums had that me against the world formula not worked??

please discuss

cheers

Lets say that 'Sex Sells' was released instead and there was no IML. Jovi would probably still be a big band perhaps with a slightly smaller 00s audience than they currently have. TYFLM, OWN, Everyday, AALY, HAND and WSYCGH would still prove reasonably popular (if they had been written in this hypothetical scenario).

However, would all the IML clones exist without the original? What would we have instead? I'd wager that we'd have got some adult contemporary stuff that sounds like the boxset or the circle in place of IML clones. On the other hand, we could just have ended up with a load of 'Everyday' clones.

i think their popularity wouldn't be the same. sure, we would all still be around but they really caught onto a lot of new fans with it's my life. i think their musical direction would be different post IML too as i think they're always trying to catch that big hit since IML.

They would have jumped on the country music bandwagon a lot sooner and made it a lot more obvious..........

They'd still be making music but probably not selling out staidums. Probably smaller venues/theaters.

Shame that such an overly poppy song could 'save' them. Because the song IS pop. It ain't rock, its the sort of song your teenager would have on their iPod.

I don't remember U2 or Bruce Springsteen having a hit as big as It's My Life post-1999.
If Guns N' Roses had the classic lineup, they would be playing stadiums too.

Bon Jovi, just like the other acts I named, made their legacy long time ago, and that's why they are big (not because It's My Life).

Best regards,
the Sexx

I'm pretty sure the current line up is playing Stadiums more often than not too

I think Elevation and It's a Beautiful Day were just as big as It's My Life and worked the same for fans
