Default 'Born To Be My Baby'

I realise here at JT that single-song threads aren't usually welcomed and they lead to many more single-song threads within the week, but I must comment on this song.

First of all, if you had asked me about this song two weeks ago, I'd have said that it's an average song from a great album which gets played live at every show and I would rather leave it than take it.

However...I have discovered that this track is just fantastic. Everything from Jon's vocals to Richie's guitar work is well crafted, and while not an overly-complex song, everything seems to fit well. Fair enough, the lyrics and message may be a little cheesy, but this is Bon Jovi, so those points don't count.

Live, I believe this song does it's job brilliantly, too. It works anywhere in the set (I prefer it in the slot it was in during the 'Bounce tour', late in the main set) and it gets the crowd going with the singalong.

Basically...this song has pushed into my top ten. And I have enjoyed this opportunity to rave about a song which is possibly either a fan favourite, or just a song that people don't have much of an opinion on...

It's a very good song, but I'd like to see it sharing a 50/50 slot with Livin' in Sin or Die 4 You, two underplayed songs.

It was the LH tour when I realised how good it was. Live especially.

I love the 'Na na na na' parts at the end. It's a fun song. Not in my top 30 probably, though.

While I'll be shot for this, I'd put the TFLR version in my top 10 tracks ever.

Love this song. Love it, love it, love it. One of the best songs they've done.

*gets out gun*

... although BTBMB is one of the better tracks from TLFR... still, no where near the top 10

I LOVE BTBMB.... easily top 20 for me. Love it.

It is one of their best for sure. I recall being upset when they didn't play it in the Crossroad To The East tour.

Since then, they keep playing it in every show I've been to. I guess if they don't play it live in my next show, I wouldn't miss it too bad - although it would be great if they play this song & WWBTF back to back!

I can't understand why this scores so low on people's lists... perhaps because it is overplayed?

Personally, I think it's an awesome song and works very well live. I consider it to be on the same level as IML and Bad Medicine with respect to how dispensible it would be in a main setlist.

One of the greatest rock songs ever written and recorded, a masterpiece.
