Default Question on Two Story Town lyrics???

In the lyrics to Two Strory Town it says:
Its the same old ship going down.

Does anyone else hear:
Its the same old shit going around?

My mind's in the gutter again I guess.

No, I tend to hear it too. My guess is it is same old shit... that makes more sense. But they probably changed it to avoid trouble from the record company. And the lyrics are often slightly off from the songs anyway but maybe this time it's intentional to getaway with it..

He sings ship on the album but he meant sh**. When he sings it live he always sings sh**. In England and America you mustn't say sh** on the radio or TV that's why he used this word that sounds similar. He made this also once in an English TV show where he also said ship but meant sh** (Big Breakfast - Battle of the Bons when he gave a wrong answer).

It's almost the same as with Hey God, where in the radio edit the lyrics are '... seems like all the good is gone', but on the album it's '... seems like all the good shits gone'. In some countries the word shit is just not accepted on radio / tv /publicity, so that's why it's changed. Probably the same with the lyrics from Two story town.

And the same thing with Someday I'll Be Saturday Night:

...My life's a bargain basement, all the good shit's gone...

OK, for a start it's 'The same old 'whatever' is going ROUND', not down.

And I've always heard 'The same old sh**'. Why would a ship be going round a town?

Everytime I've sung along to it I've said 'sh1t' but Sambo-Chris' explanation seems good enough.
On the radio and album version (I think) of Teenage Dirtbag by Wheetus; 'd1ck', 'gun' and '@ss' are bleeped out. Now I can understand 'd1ck' and '@ss' but why 'gun'? I don't know anyone that gets offended by "...he brings a gun to school,"
Sambo-Chris: what was that 'Battle of the Bons'?

Battle of the Bons was a quiz during Big Breakfast Richie against Jon where they had to answer BJ- and music related questions. It was hilarious. They didn't know Tico's birthday for example and had difficulties with their own lyrics. It was soo funny.

Jon won by the way.

Christine
