Yes. I even saw him throwing a cigarette in She Don't Know Me (SDKM?).
The good thing is Jon quit cause of life insurance costs or whatever it was, very good self-control.

Not really. It was too late, the damage was done...

I didn’t understand why Jon would quit for life insurance as he’s independently wealthy and his wife and kids will be fine financially. Maybe it was costing more to insure a tour due to his smoking? Maybe the life insurance thing was Jon joking?

Anyway, I wish he had never started and glad he stopped smoking. I was shocked when I saw it in the WWWB documentary.

I agree.
I also wondered about why he would complain about the cost of it.

An increased insurance means a tour liability and there's way less profit if a portion of it is going to insuring the band. It doesn't matter how much money you have, it's a smart move to lower a giant cost and make the tour make sense financially. Whether or not it was tongue in cheek, I don't know.

I always thought it was just a cheeky comment but what you said makes sense.

Still, what a great reason to quit smoking. It sounds as "well, I don't care about how it affects my voice (even though I knew when I picked up smoking again how damaging it can be) and how my ability to perform is surely going to decline, but I'm not going to lose $$ for this".
