Default Bon Jovi Philosophy of Life

I'm sure you've all noticed how often the idea of living while you're alive comes up in Bon Jovi lyrics. They have a very carpe diem positive attitude.

But, how many of us really live up to that? Do you?

I know I don't. I don't feel like I LIVE my life everyday or that I'm LIVING while I'm alive. I often feel like I'm just stuck in a rut and I feel like my experiences are limited by my health and vision and the health my family members or obligations. Maybe it's a matter of appreciating what you've got. I'm pretty happy with most things (great job, love my family), but I feel like I'm missing out on a lot too. Sometimes when I listen to "It's My Life," "Everyday," or "Sleep When I'm Dead" it makes me think there's a lot out there I'm missing.

What happens to you when the message of the lyrics hits you?

Becky

I really WANT to live up to that message, but I can't. School's getting me down. 'Nuff said.

Life is what you make of it. If you're not happy, do something about it.

I don't believe you have to do something everyday, you need to breathe
every once in a while, but I've never understood for example why people stay in a job they hate or with a partner they don't love. There's always something you can do about your life if your not happy. It might not be easy, but it's worth a shot. I know I won't spend my last days wondering if I should've done something when I still could. Life's too short for regrets.

Good question - I have often thought about that, & I think alot of it is state of mind. I think it is a case of appreciating what you've got - how lucky u r to have those & then to just make the most of it. If the opportunity arises, take it - no matter how bad u feel about it, when its over - you'll feel much better having put the experience behind you & be more prepared to face them in the future. Only that way can you make the most of your life.

The song 'Fear' is the most influential in my way of thinking I believe...

(But yes... there r sometimes when nothing can perk u up... but its up to u to make them few & far between)

Sleep when I'm dead ... i'd like to ... because i think the days are too short, i want to do so much things ...
And it's my life, just a dream for me ... (obligations !!!) sometimes i wish i could live my life just like i'd like to ...
These songs are good for "the moral" ... i don't know if you can understand

actually i don't get my philosophy for my life off lyrics from rock bands- actually i gotta confess that i think myself to be too young for a "philosophy of life" i live my life the way it comes but i don't live after a certain model or rule... i have my ideas of what i want to do for a living but that still can change...

same... we're not rockstars who get paid millions to travel the world, make a lot of people happy, hang around with celebrities, marry beautiful people, own numerous property... etc

maybe if i had the financial backing i would live life to the full

Well said. I think that is message behind Bon Jovi's songs. I'm right there with you Becky. I will be 30 years old next month, and I don't feel like I am living my life to the fullest, not even close. When it all comes down to it, you have to be the one to make the decision to "live your life everyday". It takes an effort to do that, but, I don't want to be on my deathbed regretting that I didn't do anything but simply exist and went through the motions of living. No matter where you are financially, you can still live your life to the fullest. I'll never be a millionaire, but that doesn't mean I'll never be able to "live while I'm alive". It's all in your mind set.

Now I just have to learn to take my own advice...
