Default Why are people??

Why are some people calling you a gay when you like Bon Jovi? I told to some of my classmates that I'm going to see about 6 shows and they told me that guys can't like Bon Jovi, but if you do you are gay. Because the music from Bon Jovi is mentioned for girls. This pisses me off bigtime. The only thing they are saying is: If you are going to see that amount of shows you are gay and you are going to see everything over and over again. It's a waste of money.

This makes me angry (I'm not gay... no offence to people who are though). I'm really looking forward to the European tour. I even cancelled my vacation to Hungary for it

because they are lame and insecure people who can't appreciate a good band when they hear it and love to knock everything and anything to make themselves feel better. Let 'em rot. it's like freakin' high school. they must grow up.

Look at a concert crowd on a video, I would say it's near enough 50/50 male and female, dont let it get you down.

Yes, just to look at the audience at a concert will prove your friends wrong. It's men and women, children and adults, from all walks of life.

God knows I've had people call me names because I am a Bon Jovi fan and proud of it. Especially in junior high and even high school. Well, maybe I deserved some of the tease, considering what Taija and I did sometimes... I never took too much stress about it tho, I just thought that let them talk - they don't know what they're talking about anyways. Now, after 10+ years, I guess I've earned the respect of most people, they noticed that I was serious about BJ. Take my parents for example - nowadays they don't question the thing anymore, they just take the whole thing as part of my character and life. They don't even compain about the tour, they are just very encouraging! My dad even goes around telling people in the pub and at work about our trip, and he can remember every single concert we're going to!

I guess what I'm trying to say is you shouldn't pay too much attention to what other people are saying. Just hold your head up high and wear those BJ t-shirts with pride. If they can't understand that BJ is a big part of your life, then it's their loss.

I understand where you're coming from, Thierry. My boyfriend's friend was once again talking to me about how BJ is girls' band and that I have a JT addict etc. and I told him that I know pretty many guys that are Bon Jovi fans, it isn't only girls' thing. And guess what he said!? "I wonder why the guys go to concerts..." He thinks that all guys here are just gays or trying to hit on female fans!

Thierry, what type of music are your "friends" into. I'm sure that no matter who it is, they are nowhere near as good as Bon Jovi. If it is any sort of cheesy pop music, then insult them by saying it's not "music".

We listen to Bon Jovi because they are good musicians, not because of how they look, act or dance on stage. Remind these "friends" that Bon Jovi write and record their own music, play their own instruments and perform live. How many of todays pop bands do all of that?

Also, on my end, it isn't too bad. My friends aren't into Bon Jovi, more than one of my mates likes Always, but they don't care that I am. I am usually on here (JoviTalk) when I'm with them (although that is usually during computing lessons, when I SHOULD be working, lol), and they don't care. Sometimes they even read some of the topics on here.

Stupid people use stereotypes. Anyone who assumes you're gay if you go to Bon Jovi concerts is just being stupid and stereotyping you.
