My Roadrunner is almost completely stock. In American terms it is 383 cubic inches and about 335 horsepower. Back in the seventies my husband and I rebuilt the original one with much higher performance parts: cylinders and camshaft. Unfortunately, that made it dificult to drive out on the street, it didn't want to idle at stoplights and I got a few tickets So after a while, we returned it to a stock car - and we have left the new one alone too. I enjoy driving it - and there are so few places you can race anymore. I have considered taking this one down to Englishtown (which I'm sure you've heard of Brooke) but I have seen too many guys blow up their cars racing. I have gotten to the point that doing that is too expensive - I just like driving the damn thing.

Maybe the reason it didnt want to idle is because of the camshaft what did you have a 216? anyway when you do that you have to turn up the idle speed to compensate for it so instead if a idle spped of 850 rpm you would need 1600rpm . its gets abit expencive though and like you say at traffic lights its abit annouying especaily when people turn to look at you wondering why your revving so high. i used to have a ford with an amazing cam init but it had to tick over at 1600 rpm and used to drink petrol like it was going out of fashion but i could realy fly .shame i had to sell it as the next week the new owner wraped it round a tree. Although now ive got such a urge to go and get a charger , its just the money
