19 June 2001 - Paris, France Concert Review 5 July 2001
GREAT SHOW /WRONG PLACE

A review by NEUROTICA-SPAIN / ncanals@teleline.es

HELLO FROM SPAIN!!
Here I am to write down my opinion and my memories about the show and the tour.As I m spanish and we had the bad luck of having no shows this year I had to go abroad to see the band. For this reason I was earning money since Christmas time but now, I can loudly say that it was really, really worht to do it.

I must truly say that the show in Paris was not as wonderful as some others shows I attended too. Iīve been also doing the German Tour ( Cologne, Stuttgart and Hamburg) and those ones were, in my opinion, as good as never before!

I m not on the way to criticize but Iīd like to say some things that, for me, were big mistakes and then I will also comment the best impressions I had.

The main problem in Paris was the lack of organisation. It was a big surprise for my friends (Hello to Sandra, Ernie and Sebastian), and for me when, after being queuing several hours to get the backstage writstbands, we realised that was no pit area at all.

But it was more tragic than this: we also realised that the double barricade system for security purposes was not there. I really felt scared during the show and itīs quite sad because the show for itself was great, the band was enthousiasthic, the set list was perfect, but we had to bare the crush of fans during the whole concert.

I really think that was a terrible mistake of the organisation because very few security was guaranteed in that show.

Maybe, le Bercy was not the place to do a BON JOVI show because itīs an small covered place and because of this reason the whole stage was impossible to be built up and the fireworks were not there to light the show ! It was also very hot inside and full of smoke and this was not helping the fans that were into the multitude at all!
When I compare that concert with the german ones I realise that the fans who only attended that show missed a lot of things: the whole stage all built up was so impressing... the fireworks in perfectly conjunction with some songs and at the end of each show, the air we could breath in Germany, the sun, the sunset...

Anyway, I m happy about all the shows... the one in Paris was my first show after the Wembley shows and I was so excited about it... I think that the band was as strong as never before, I will never forget those Richie solos, Ticoīs energy and that wonderful smile from David.Hugh also were doing his best with the bass guitar and of course... our frontman Jon Bon Jovi was perfect. The whole band communicates really well with the audience and we even help them to sing several songs.

It was really cool to hear Always once again, and I really appreciated those endings fulls of energy with Tequila and Twist and Shout.

In my opinion is the best way to end, without sadness and itīs also a way not to say goodbye but only... goodnight!
