5 June 2001 - Amsterdam, The Netherlands Concert Review 12 October 2001
One wild night pure rock & roll

A review by Sebastiaan / Thebigbasje@hotmail.com

Well this was my first Bon Jovi concert ever so I was really wondering if the were as god as everbody was saying they were. I wanted to go to the Crush Tour in Holland in the Gelredome but that one was sold out. Than I heard that they were coming back next year and I couldn't wait to get tickets. But when the momentwas there and the date was set, there was a computer disruption and it was only possible to get two tickets per person. And you see, m nephew was getting the tickets,he could only get tickets for his friend and himself, and by the time got time t get tickets for myself the concert as sold out. But...they were giving an extra concert and again my nephew was getting the tickets to go again and this time he got also a ticket for me and a friend of mine

And there we were going, on the road to Arnhem. My nephew needed to drive because I don't have a driving license ( I'm 17 you see and you can onl get a rivers license in Holland when you're 18 }But my nephew needed to work
'till half past five and the concert was starting at half past eight and it was 1/2 hour driving so we didn't arrive on time and we missed the support act Kane (a Dutch rock group) but I didn't mind because I didn't like them at al. But me also missed the support act Anastacia with Richie Sambora. We didn't knew that we had missed it but we heared it later that evening. So we entered the Arena when Anastacia was singing her latest song "I'm Outta Love" and than she finally disappeared of stage.

And than they showed the stage, it was a big house with a big screen. And than a movie started. It was showing Bon Jovi in an elevator with the music from the song "One Wild Night". You know that one from Crush. When we were driving towards the Arena I was wondering with my nephew which version of "One Wild Night" they would play. And when we heared the fist notes we emmedatly knew.
The were stepping out the elevator and the show started of course with "One Wild Night". It was a real surprise for us that they were playing "Raise Your Hands". When they were playing "Living On A Prayer" you could hear that Jon is getting older because the crowd needed to sing the high notes. But who cares ?
When they were playing the songs from "Crush" you could hear that the crowd liked the old songs better than the new ones. Especially with "Say It Isn't So". There were also other surprises like "Hey God" (I'd like to hear more from "These Days" )and "Blaze Of Glory". Personally I don't like "Something To Believe In" so I think that was together with "It's My Life" the worst from the whole concert. Don't get me wrong, "It's My Life" sounds cool as the album version but live this song is crap. Of course there were much highlights like "Keep The Faith", "You Give Love A Bad Name" and "Hey God".

The were closing the show with "Wanted Dead Or Alive". and later I heard that they had also shot the video for this song to be the next single from "One Wild Night". Normally I don't like that song so much but when I heard that song live...

Now that I'm viewing the setlists of other concerts of the Crush Tour i'm a bit surprised that they don't play "Always". Why not ? I'd also liked to hear "Dry County" , and "Blame It On The Love Of Rock 'n' Roll, but I didn't expect to hear that songs especially not "Blame It On The Love Of Rock 'n' Roll.

So after all it is really true what the people are saying about a Bon Jovi concert. One wild night pure rock & roll.
