1 March 2003 - Chicago, IL, USA Concert Review 3 March 2003
Rock It!!!

A review by Strang / kent_gop@hotmail.com

I dont care how old these Jersey boys get, they will always put on a live show like no other. The setlist started at about 8:45 and wasn't over until past 11:30. The boys were all sporting cut-off shirts and tight pants, and every aging 80's bighair female fan took very quick notice. But the music caught the attention of everyone.

Much of Jon and Richie's lines were muffled by the combination of an echo-filled arena and the loud sing-a-long performed by the sell-out crowd. Jon clearly was suffering from a cold. He could be seen coughing in between lines. However, you couldn't tell judging by the phenominal voice performance he put on for every song but one (Richie's "I'll be there for you" performance on lead vocals was the only one Jon missed out on, but Richie did a wonderful job in his place). The only song I didn't care for was "Right side of wrong," but David began the song with a beautiful 3 minute piano piece all by himself.

"Always" was a special treat as the first encore. "In these arms" and "Bad medicine" were also included in an encore that kept the crowd screaming until the band left the stage for good.

Jon made a comical shot at Brittney Spears during "Living on a prayer." After the first chorus in which the crowd sang over the top of Jon's voice and Richie's lead guitar, Jon said "I would like to see Brittney Spears try that!!!"

The evening was wonderful, and if you missed it, i'm very sorry. But KEEP THE FAITH Bon Jovi fans, Jon ended the show by saying "We will see you this summer Chicago," so be sure to get tickets for a show that no fan should miss.
