To be fair you've trashed most albums since Crush, all of em with Richie.

The rhetoric that no one is buying the albums....I don't get. They started tanking long before this decade. The public interest for new material for the band ain't new, they just can't lie about it anymore.

Well yeah most are average since Crush with about 5 decent songs per album which is fine. I dont expect an all killer no filler all the time after (back then) 20 odd years.
But the last 2 albums just miss that certain something..Richie? Maybe...maybe not but lack something.

They lack dynamics and range. It's mostly boring and flat.

i guess back to the main topic there is an on going negotiation...Richie sees the glass half full while jon half empty...
i want to believe that the love of the band, the original members line up,and the legacy will prevail in the end..

This is all very weird. For Richie to mention Jon's voice (and not in a derogatory way) suggests that he knows what's going on inside the camp. I know it's painfully obvious about Jon's voice - but for Richie to say it in the way he did tells me that he and Jon have spoken. The only thing for me that throws some doubt is when asked about writing with Jon again RS said that he (Jon) would be mad not to let him - that would suggest they've not spoken about it.

I get what you are saying, but Jon's voice problems are pretty much common knowledge, so he could judt be putting 2 + 2 together - but you're right, I think they have spoken. Desmond's comments didn't say they hadn't spoken, just that there were no plans for a reunion...

I took that to mean that they had talked about shows, but had not yet discussed new material. It could be that they haven't even discussed shows, and have just discussed plans for the 40th anniversary.

Who knows....

Richie wasn't outlandish in his interview and was talking rather matter of factly. He was talking with familiarity. It looks like they have indeed been talking but the message from both seems to be different. Although, again I would say that we still haven't heard from Jon and ultimately he is the one with all the say in this.

We pretty much know what Richie thinks and what he prefers. All we have from Jon is second hand information which may be correct, incorrect, or something in between.

Jon didn't support Desmond's big show in Greece so I don't know how close they really are. They are co-workers? Sure, even if it was true, Desmond wouldn't confirm any possible Sambora return.

Just let it be, wishful thinking? Meh, let things play out themselves.

Also, I can't see why people say this could be the last tour blah blah blah. As far as they sell tickets and shows, they won't stop. You must accept that as a fact, even if Jon's voice is in a bad shape.

Come on, this is a bonkers way to determine how close two people are, right?

Why would Desmond lie?
He couldve just said "i dont know anything about that, you'd have to ask Jon. We just wrote a song".
