Default Giant

Anyone heard any material by this vastly under-rated AOR band? Absolutely quality they really are. How they didn't get up there with the likes of Bon Jovi and Def Leppard I'll never know. Well worth a look if you're into pure rock and roll, just thought I'd give thema mention. They have two albums - Last Of The Runaways and Time To Burn aswell as a third album named 'III' which comprises of tracks that never made the first two albums (which surprisngly still make for an a great album). Well worth a look if you can find any of their stuff anywhere

Red face

Just noticed that in the credits for the 'Have A Nice Day' album booklet Jon Bon mentions Dan Huff in his list of thanks. For those that don't know.. Dann Huff was the frontman of this very band.. Giant. Absolute quality musician. He does alot of studio session work etc and has obviously helped out somewhere along the line with the Have A Nice Day album.

Giant are musically a great band, but lyrically pretty weak but still the choruses are catchy and Dan Huff is great at making up opening riffs and solo's, so for 80's hair metal fans they would be a very good choice to check out. Saying how their not up there with Bon Jovi and Def Leppard is a bit much considering they have 3 albums and didn't change with the industry as Jovi and Lep (eventually with Retro and Slang) did. I know you love them Shaun so I won't go to hard on them

I have to disagree with a few of those points fella I think some of their lyrics are really good - "passion, we're children just playing with passion, losing our grip, falling asleep at the wheel" I think is a good example of some of their lyrical content from the song Innocent Days. Also bare in mind that Giant's last real album was released in 1992 so they didn't really have much of a chance to move with the times. The 2001 release of "III" was mostly made up of songs that didnt make the first two albums that had been re-worked a bit. I love em anyway.

btw - Nice pic in the sig lol

The band have a new album out now called Promise Land. Dan Huff is not on lead vocals though apparently he wrote several songs for the album.

I haven't heard it yet, but was wondering what people who have hard it think?

It's a great band.

I was really surprised when I noticed the lead singer produced six Lost Highway songs

Best regards,
the Sexx

Giant were never a "hair metal band" as you seem to think, just a very good selection of session musicians who put out some good albums. It was probably more to do with lack of image that they didnt make it big.
I actually saw them at Edwards no 8 in Birmingham when they released their first album(dont remember the year) and we managed to get right to the front of the gold circle in front of the other 80 people in the venue.
