Default New GNR album in 2014?

I've copied this post from a GNR fan forum, here is a link:
http://mistersaintlaurent.proboards....uote-summation

“It took a long time, but now it's working, and I think we'll have the right record, and when we do drop the record, the plan is to drop the record, have a bunch of extra tracks, about a year or so down the road drop another record and drop a third record. This is a three-stage thing and we'll be touring for a real long time.” Axl Rose (November 2002)

"We're working on 32 songs, and 26 are nearly done.” Axl Rose (January 2006)

"It's actually four records. He's got four albums worth of material.” Sebastian Bach (October 2007)

I was like, “when is this coming out?”... and he said "2012". I was like dude… your killin me! He goes, "well this comes out on the third record... it relates to this song, it’s a trilogy… this goes with this lyrically." Sebastian Bach (November 2007)

"For now, we’ll concentrate and keep our focus on this album, but I will say I’ve always thought of it as a double. And no offense, but no one’s trying to talk in parables. The issues are a bit more complex than anyone would like." Axl Rose (December 200

"No, maybe same bat time, same bat channel next year but we’ll have to see." Axl Rose (“I know this is jumping the gun big time, but any tentative idea when you would like to see the next CD come out?” – December 200

“Not as much as Baz [Sebastian Bach] thinks he heard! Really, it doesn't matter. If things go well enough, we'd like to get another out at some point in our lifetimes.” Axl Rose (“How much material is there?” – February 2009)

“You got that? What I can say is if you don't like this, then you probably won't like that. Same people, lots more approaches, bit meaner in places and darker in some. Robin does a really great Stevie Ray Vaughan-type solo on one track.” Axl Rose (“You're not saying much.” – February 2009)

“Another person who’s partied with Rose says he’s working on a new album after last year’s disappointing “Chinese Democracy” — the first Guns N’ Roses studio album in 15 years — and has something to prove.” Brian Niemietz (March 2010)

“Dj Ashba and Dizzy Reed confirm that new songs for a new Guns N’ Roses record are being written. “It might come out in 2011”, says Ashba. “We’ve been very busy touring the last years, but we write new songs. As far as I can judge, it’s gonna be an incredible good record”, the guitarist says.” Dj Ashba and Dizzy Reed (May 2010)

“They (Dj and Dizzy) were misquoted in the translation – they would “like” to do a new album, but that’s the extent of it…” Bumblefoot (June 2010)

“We’ve been throwing around a bunch of ideas,” he said, “and it should be good.” “Axl has a lot of good shit up his sleeves, so I’m really excited about it,” Ashba explained, “It won’t take as long – I promise.” Dj Ashba (November 2010)
ber 2010)

"There is enough music for another two albums, but these are all 10 year old recordings from the Chinese Democracy sessions." Bumblefoot (March 2011)

“Richard Fortus hopes the album “is gonna get released very soon”. Dj is “looking forward” to recording new material.” Richard Fortus and Dj Ashba (April 2011)

“Wouldn’t that be something??? Ya never know. Crossin my fingers.” Tommy Stinson (“New GN’R album?” – April 2011)

"Axl has a lot of great songs up his sleeve," Ashba said. "He probably has three albums worth of stuff recorded." Dj Ashba (May 2011)

“Working on the new Guns record.” Dj Ashba (“with Axl” - May 2011)

“GN’R is taking some time off right now.” Dizzy Reed (May 2011)

“I think the next thing is really going to have to be someone trying to organize a record and getting it together. I think there’s a really good band there to do it. But, you know, the thought of it is more daunting than a “Mats or a Soul Asylum record combined.” Tommy Stinson (May 2011)

"Yes, I'm writing a lot." Dj Ashba ("Are you writing things for GN'R?" - June 2011)

"I pray to God one day people get to hear what he has up his sleeve, because me being a fan for one, but the shit is just awesome. And I can't wait to get in and work on some stuff with him. And I know he's really excited to get in a room, too, so I think us together, we're gonna do a lot of damage. And this band he's put together is just incredible musicians — I mean, top-notch players. He definitely put together an amazing band and he has, like, three albums' worth of shit up his sleeve that's just gonna floor people. I'm really excited about it. And I've been writing around the clock, constantly sending him songs, too. So it's good; it's really good." Dj Ashba (June 2011)

"No. I mean, what people don't realize is 'Chinese' didn't take 15 years. He literally has, like, four albums' worth of… I mean, he has tons and tons of songs. So whenever he feels like, OK, this is what he wants to release next… It's his call, it's his vision, so I'm just here to do whatever I can to bring that vision to life for him, or with him." Dj Ashba (June 2011)

Stinson says Guns haven't begun working on a follow-up to "Chinese Democracy," but still have material left over from the last sessions. "We haven't recorded in a while and I don't see us doing so in the near future; we have those upcoming dates." Tommy Stinson (August 2011)

"Once I get the next things sorted out with the label, then I feel I can get to that creative place that I've been fighting to get to, and to use Guns N' Roses to do so," he says." - Axl, 12/20/11

"Looking ahead, Stinson says the hope is to write new songs next year and move forward with GNR, which is nominated for entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2012. There are songs left over from the "Chinese Democracy" sessions that are almost ready to go, he says, and could be polished up for potential release." - Tommy, 11/30/11

"We're working on 32 songs, and 26 are nearly done," he says. Of those, 13 are slated for the final album. - Axl, 2006

"Stinson says that there’s “a bunch” of GNR material written and still waiting to be recorded - “some of it worthy of finishing, some of it probably not” - in addition to 22 songs recorded during the “Chinese Democracy” process that were not included on the album." - Tommy, 11/13/11

"There's talk of doing some recording in the new year, getting some songs together. But that's just talk." - Tommy, 11/30/11

"We're gonna be busy - we're gonna be busy all next year. We'll be putting out new stuff as soon as we can figure out what our deal is with labels, blah blah blah." - Axl, 12/20/11

"'There are some clamoring and rumors that we might be getting some material together here after we do this little (theater) run, so we'll see what happens,' Reed says." - Dizzy, 02/14/12
"I’ll be out with Guns in May, June and July and then we have to finish up some more recording and hopefully get the record out and be on tour in the fall in the States I’m hoping." - Fortus, 04/23/12

"Now I must start getting my shit together for the European GNR tour. I’ll be looking forward to working up some new long over due GNR rock soon." - Tommy, blog, 04/30/12

"When this tour ends, Frank (drums) and Tommy (bass) and I plan to get together and start writing some new music. Hopefully nothing will get in the way of doing that." - Bumblefoot, 06/07/12

"(The next album) will come out sooner [than CD]... All the guys are writing, and we recorded a lot of songs over the years. We'll figure out what we feel best about. Chinese was done in piecemeal with one person here and one there at different times. Appetite for Destruction was the only thing written with lyrics and melody fitting the guitar parts at the same time... I do want to lean more toward lyrics and melody." - Axl, 10/30/12

"Once the tour is over, Guns N' Roses will turn their focus to working on a seventh album. Despite dozens of songs in rough form, the band are in no hurry - but there won't be another decade-long delay. "It won't be another Chinese Democracy but then again we're in no rush to make a bad record," says Ashba." - DJ, Yahoo, 01/23/13

"Guitarist Richard Fortus has confirmed to Noise11.com news that the band was spent a lot of time in the studio working on the next album and that many of the songs have been completed. Fortus, who is also the guitarist for Australia’s The Dead Daisies, told Noise11 that while the album has mostly been completed it won’t be released this year but maybe in 2014." - Fortus, Noise11, 05/05/13

"There's a lot of stuff, it's just a question of all of us organizing. We're still doing shows, and I think once we clear our schedule and focus more on new music, it'll happen. We just have little things on the back burner, just waiting for the right time for us to organize and make something new out of it. Hopefully we can make more music – that's what it's about." - Bumblefoot, Rolling Stone, 05/08/13

"We were supposed to start writing after the end of this last run – but I went to India! When I get back, I hope we can all get together, and live it and focus on creating new music together. Fans don’t want to hear about new shows, they want to hear about new music." - Bumblefoot, Time Out Dubai, 02/07/13

"Generally speaking, at this time we have no information on tours, albums, or DVDs. When things get confirmed we will let you know. Thank you for your patience." - GnR Facebook & Twitter, 08/06/13

"Right now, things are a bit on hold as far as playing... Well, I think they're getting tracks together." - Dizzy, Noise11, 11/18/13

"We're working on new stuff now... So far, everything is good. Actually, Guns wanted to be touring right now, in South America. And... I'd already committed to this [Dead Daisies Australian tour], so we needed to postpone that. Next year. But I'm hoping that we get an album out very soon." - Fortus, Noise11, 11/18/13

There are a very more quotes on the other forum, had to delete a few to make the post under 10000 characters.

I'm excited about the possibly of a new GNR album. I'm one of the few out there that think Chinese Democracy was an awesome album. I also think most people that hate the album, hate it just because they blame Axl for the original band breaking up, and haven't given the album a fair chance.

Well, I'll believe it when I see it.... but not overly excited given most of the quotes you have (generously) supplied us with suggest most of any new album will be songs that didn't make it onto Chinese Democracy.

That album was the most expensive album of all time and while not a bad album, it is very far from being the best.

See, I don't think that's a bad thing; and if you don't think Chinese Democracy was a bad album than I don't think you should consider it a bad thing either. Per the quotes provided, the material isn't b-sides that didn't make the cut, but rather material that was earmarked for future albums. Two or three future albums, which, had they come to fruition, could have justified the price tag you mentioned. Also, I agree Chinese Democracy wasn't the bands best, but I don't think it was too far off. It could have easily been called Use Your Illusion 3.

There's a couple of songs from CD that stood out for me... Sorry and This I Love were great songs. Shackler's Revenge had a great chorus melody but crappy production. And the title track had great energy, but lacked a hook.

Still wish Checkmate was on the album. Also, I overused the word great. The album itself is overlong, but not bad. It's certainly ambitious, to say the least.

Aloha !

Anyone following Guns N Roses knows that the band has yet to enter the studio together as a unit, and still needs to write an actual song together, as in with Axl in the room. Considering how much of a cluster**** Chinese Democracy was, an how little has changed nearly 20 years since they first started recording for Chinese Democracy, not many fans are actually thinking anything will be released in 2014. Or 2015. or 2016.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I'd say anyone following them would speculate as much, but we don't really know for sure. But even if that is the case, I don't really care, bands do put music together piecemeal nowadays. Hell the postal service put together and incredible album by sending themselves recording over the mail. I also don't really care because I'm more interested in heating those Chinese Democracy tracks than I am listening to something newer. The way Baz has described them on interviewed has me interested, and they've crown into legend.

I'm not holding my breathe on a 2014 release, but I am confident something is in the works and that it will eventually come out.

Guns N' Roses released a holiday message for fans on Monday that teased fans with the news and a graphic about the announcement of a South American tour.

The band told fans, "From everyone in Guns N' Roses, to all our fans around the world – Happy Holidays! As for everything else? …yes, Jarmo is right. Information coming soon!"

Posters on a fan forum state that "Jarmo is right" is a reference to a poster on the Guns N' Roses message board that said that a tour announcement was coming soon. Along with the text, the message also included a graphic that said "South American Tour 2014".

The posting on Facebook included part of the graphic and a link to the announcement on the band's official site. But the Facebook posting also included "Its been 5 years South America… We are coming back at ya!" which had some fans on the My GNR Forum puzzled because the band toured South America two years ago.

Some of the posters speculated that the 5 could have simply been a typo or a mistake. One poster had the following speculation about the 5 years reference: "The five years thing kind of makes me think of a new album announcement, starting the tour off in South America. It's been 5 years since [the "Chinese Democracy" album was released]."

Another poster wrote, "I think the 5 years is referring to the album release? At least I hope. I'd hate to know that management can't even count."

Read the forum postings for more of the fans reaction to the "announcement announcing the announcement" and speculations here: http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/n...s-ex-bandmate/

Saw 'em live this past summer. Killer concert. Chinese Democracy had some real gems, but had plenty of filler as well. Talk of a new album is all fine and well but I doubt it'll ever happen. There's no market for it anyways. If CD wasn't a hit their next album certainly won't be either

That's not a fair statement. CD was a platinum level success. Even if you don't take the million copies best buy bought into account, the album has sold over a million copies in Europe. They also had second pressing that was offered at retailers other than best buy, and that sold out. (Idk how many copies that actually accounted for though)

CD wasn't the Madonna level success the label was banking on when they sunk 13 million into it and it wasn't the monster comeback fans were hoping for, but it's unfair to say it was unsuccessful.

It's also unfair to say it was a bad album. I loved it, and critics were generally positive about it. And most fans I talk to that trash it, haven't even listened to it. I think most people won't give them a chance because they blame Axl for the split of the original line up. And that's a shame, because those folks are missing out on an awesome rock album.
