Struggling to see how this was a complete mess? The new bass line on that song is amazing. The chorus Bono clearly struggles with, but still - it's actually not nearly as bad as you are portraying it.
Also the Pavarotti playback was more of an effect thing, I think? Bono didn't go for the same notes when he played it in 2011. I've seen that song twice now - once in Edmonton 2011 and now on this tour. It was just a different feel and fitted the song and the effect of the video they were playing.
Also, you're upset about the chorus of Red Hill, but want Bono to attempt to sing that part of with or without you?

I find this reaction of yours to be quite ironic. For someone who loves criticizing recent Bon Jovi live performances (rightfully so, I may add) and making fun of "apologists" who attack those critics on this board (again IMO, rightfully so), you sure as hell couldn't handle criticism being thrown another band's show that you attended and loved. Especially, when I acknowledged myslef that "I'm sure it was amazing live in person" and "it's a shame I won't be able to attend this time"
Firstly, Red Hill Mining Town. I wasn't refering to the performance you posted as that show had not even taken place (getting selective with evidence, aren't we?). I was talking about the
Vancouver performance, obviously. Was I a bit strong in my language? Perhaps, but judging by the comment section of this video, I definitely wasn't the only one who didn't like it. The Seattle performance you posted was considerably better, but still leaves quite some to be desired. If Bono can get a semi-free pass for struggling (despite the lower key!), that there's no reason why there was a need to transpose it to a piano-driven ballad. It just lost the energy of the album version.
Secondly, Miss Sarajevo. We don't know the real reason why he didn't sing those lines, but those are some challenging notes, especially that final
"L'amore", so I assume he opted not too do it for vocal reasons. Perhaps you are right, maybe it's for "effect", but either way I'm never a fan of playback vocals, including when there's a "virtual duet".
Thirdly, as for With Or Without You, let me clear your confusion - I was refering to the little ad-lib in the chorus ("with or without you
ah-ah, I can't live with or without you" -
at 1:34 mark here). This is not a high note by any means and in no way is vocally demanding for Bono to sing. But he hasn't sung it like that since at least 1993, because he just feels like singing it differently. I was simply that he was going to bring his melody to the album version, since this is an album anniversary tour, but he didn't, so I was a bit dissapointed at that, that's it. Funny thing is, my mother saw U2 in 2015 and she noted the same thing, so I'm not the only one that really likes that part of the chorus. But my point is, it has nothing to do with vocal ability or Red Hill performance.
