Default Coldplay

I have officially been converted. Just came back from Coldplay on the second night of their world tour and my mind was absolutely blown. They are doing things that (to my knowledge) haven't been done before**. It's just astounding how good, and tight and amazing they are live. Chris Martin throws himself across the stage, is as personable as ever and is just an all together really good front man. They had a regular stage, a B-Stage and a a mini C-stage that they set up in the middle of the upper bowl to play an acoustic song to open the encore for the people in the back. Their songs come across so well live, and I would recommend them to anyone, even if they didn't know a song. It truly was a spectacle in itself.

Some might argue that the flashy lights and the overall massive stage production would've thrown me off. But no. Chris Martin was skidding across his knees, running full tilt, spinning, dancing and really seamed to genuinely love playing songs like "Yellow" being over 12 years old. I have all of their albums except Parachutes and a live one, but I will soon grab those. Truly an unforgettable show, I had shivers running down my spine, and it brought me back to moments like seeing Hey God or I Believe in Europe.

** - Everyone at the door was given a wristband. During the show a remote sensor turned every single wristband on in different colors and flashed in and out in sync with some of the songs. I still have the wristband. Here are some of the pictures to show what I mean about the wristbands... And even then it doesn't give it justice.

I was fortunate enough to be not 10 feet away from the mini stage.

ANYWHO, I know Coldplay is pretty much hated on this board, but I'm wondering if there are any other hidden fans out there?

I actually have most of their albums, wouldn't be a a big fan, but I do find myself loving a handful of tracks on each record. But it seems a similar case to some other bands (U2 for example) - they are type of band you NEED to see live to fully appreciate them, then you will be converted. I havn't seen them live yet though

Coldplay are great. It's a shame they're so universally misunderstood.

Ive seen then a couple of times and they've always blown me away.

I'm not a huge fan but I have most of their albums.

The only real issue I have with them is that they don't really push the envelope but we're on a Bon Jovi message board ffs...

I don't dislike them, think they're musically pretty good honestly, just not really my bag. I do like a few of their songs though. That said, it looks like a hell of a live show.

If they're coming your way with their tour, you should see if you can go. Even behind the stage is good seats, as you can see from the pictures.

Same here. Like the hits, but never taken much time to listen to them. Yellow is a particular standout.

But hot damn, that wristband thing looks sweet.

Standout tracks in order of the best songs for me, and if you haven't heard them, you should.

1. Fix You
2. Every Teardrop is A Waterfall
3. Till Kingdom Come
4. The Scientist
5. Death And All His Friends
6. Yellow
7. A Message
8. Charlie Brown
9. God Put A Smile Apon Your Face
10. Warning Sign
11. Us Against The World
12. Up In Flames
If you have the opportunity to see them on their North American arena tour, DO IT. I couldn't help but thinking "Is this what seeing U2 was like in their hey-day?

Fix You and Every Teardrop is tied for my two favorite songs from any band at this moment now that I think about it. Dang flabbit, such good songs.

Agreed that wristband thingy is quite cool, although Coldplay sucks monkey balls (apart from Yellow).
