Default Are Bon Jovi too rich to make another classic album?

Bon Jovi are my favoUrite band.

They have been my favoUrite band since high school (18 years ago, jesus im getting old).

All the major events in my life can be traced back to a certain Bon Jovi songs:

High School - Prayer, Never Say Goodbye.
College/1st major girlfriend - Born to Be My Baby, Ill Be There 4 You.
Getting married - Always
Problems with job/married life - Hey God, These Days
Problems with job/ married life sorted out - Its my Life

These are just a small sample of Jovi songs which locked me into this band forever.

The unthinkable is starting to creep in though. Im starting to like other bands more. Bands who I would never have given a listen to in the past.

Bon jovi are starting to bore me. Im clinging to the thought that the boxset is going to be their salvation but who am I kidding.

Although I thought that Crush was a very average album there were still songs on there that I liked a lot.
No, in my opinion the band started to lose motivation with One Wild Night. Oh how I was looking forward to this album. When the tracklisting was released I couldnt believe it. Where were the live "classic" jovi songs? Why only one disc? It turned out it was released as "filler" until the next album was due & the record company didnt want to put a double album out. I couldnt believe how much of a missed opportunity this was. Everyone on this board could have put a better live album together from their bootleggs.
This is where I reckon they dropped the ball and stopped caring.

Next came Bounce, which on release I thought was great. Now I never play it. Why is there only one song on this album written just by Jon & Richie? Sure, they are both great songwriters in their own right but its together where they make the magic.

Im not even going to start on TLFR!

Have they become too succesfull now to write songs like they used to?Have they lost the motivation which made them hungary?
Has Jon really lost his singing voice? Why are the songs tuned down when they play live?

Please, prove me wrong with the box set as I reckon we will never see a great album released from the boys again.

What do you reckon? Do you think they have more up their sleeve for us yet?

Sadly, I don't.

All I can say is "I hear ya"!

Bon Jovi is no longer a mean to make great and long-term music for them -- it's a mean to make money. They should either reevaluate their values or stop giving false hopes to Bon Jovi fans.

IMO, I really don't believe that it is just for the money. Sure it is their job and the money is good, but I don't think they would still be around if it was because of $$. I think they make music and tour for their own enjoyment and their love for the art. Anyways, they could have stopped touring and making records a long time ago and still have a lot of money to last them and their families. Jon would do his acting, Tico his paintings, Dave his musicals, and Richie his solo or whatnot to keep the money rolling in.
I think they have just lost their inspiration, whatever that maybe. They need something to heighten and move their creative juices. I think they will get it back someday. Hopefully on the next album.
I also think the pressures of the record company has something to do with it. They are being forced to put this or that out by a certain time. The record company also has a say in what format the releases will be and what singles to put out. The record company is the boss and the band works and makes money for them, which I find very sad.
I think it will all work out in the end though, and the band will get their edge back.

Some of you scare me. Being fans, I think you should have a little more faith in the band. Maybe you should re-think how you value the band and their music and the reasons why they do what they do. If you say they are just doing it for the money and have no or little faith in them, then you are losing out on something that comes with being a fan. And why worry so much? It is not over until you loose hope and make it to be over. If that makes any sense.

Finally something where I agree with you!

If you after one year already had problems in your marriage like that no wonder you picked Always as your marriage song. It took you longer to sort them out (5 maybe 4 years) then the marriage actually lasted before the trouble started. You just married the wrong girl.

I think you make some very good points. I don't wanna be a fan of a band where I only listen to their albums of 10+ years ago. Only the Bon Jovi can answer your questions with the boxset and next studio album but
