Default First album you bought?

What was the first album you bought? And what do you think of it now?

The first album I bought was Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt. I was about 6 years old and I remember seeing them perform on TV and being totally amazed by Gwen Stefani-she looked like nothing I had seen before in real life, and the songs were catchy and I couldn't stop thinking about them. I heard Don't Speak everywhere. So, with my parents refusing to buy me the CD, I took it upon myself to save all my pocket money and coins I found on the street, and about 3 months later, in Fopp in Aberdeen, I finally purchased a copy of the album. I played it as soon as I got home and loved it instantly - especially Just A Girl. I even used to dress up as Gwen and jump around my room, singing at the top of my voice, pretending (and wishing) that I was her.

And now? I still love the album. It is one of the few albums I can listen to from start to finish and not want to skip a single track, and not want to change any of it. The songs on it still stand up today and I can honestly say that if the album came out today, my 18-year-old self would want to buy it. Not to mention, I have the memories (and photographic evidence) of my little "Gwen-phase"

I'm not sure what my first album I got myself was. But I know the first single - Stay Another Day by East 17 on cassette. I was about 5,6 and loved them. I still love the song, haha.

Not sure if this was THE first album I bought, but it is the one I remember buying not long after I got my first cd player.

It was Bryan Adams - 18 Til I Die. Loved the album back then and still do now.

The Everly Brothers - Cathy's Clown. I was young enough to think it was all about me I had to do the same thing Lee-Ann did and buy it myself as my parents refused to let me listen to that "rock and roll". Yes - the Everly Brothers were considered rock and roll once upon a time LOL. They are in the RR HoF:

And I still like the Everly's. I saw them in concert with Simon and Garfunkel a few years ago and they were excellent.

The first one I ever got was Buzz by Steps, but I didn't buy that. I don't even remember what the first CD I bought myself was

Um..

Wow, I really can't think! If only I wasn't so spoilt as a kid. It was either a really 90's poppy album OR the first CD I actually bought myself was recently and obviously a rock one.

Meh, I'll just do Bat Out Of Hell, it wasn't mine but it was my dad's and when I first listened to it it helped me appreciate albums as a whole and not just the singles (not that I was ever around to know the singles of that album)

So, I dunno how I got hold of my dads copy of that. I remember sitting in the lounge listening to the title track on repeat for hours in my lil CD walkman. I fell in love with the whole album but that song especially. I had heard Meat Loaf before on the radio but suddenly I fell in love with it all.

And then this embarassing thing happened at school the next day I had listented to the title track so many times I ended up learning the lyrics to the 10 minute epicness. And during history the song was in my head and I subconsiously wrote down the lyrics to Bat Out Of Hell instead of the essay I was supposed to be doing. Needless to say my teacher wanted me to stay in that lunchtime and re-do it, that is now a story my mum tells my girlfriends I'd rather she showed them baby pictures.

Do I still love it? Of course. It's in my Top 3 favourite albums of all time. Bloody awesome.

(If I ever remember the first album I ever bought I'll let ya'll know, I know you're dying to hear)
