One potential explanation for quite how poor this was is that Jon has just been diagnosed with Covid. If he was ill then that would've had an impact.

Jon has had Covid since 2016 in that case.

I'm too big of a fan to not go if he's playing a show within 30 minutes of my house, but based on the state of the band I'll be sure to spend as little as possible to get in, get really drunk before the show, wear ear plugs, and sing every song really loudly (not that I can sing either). I was able to enjoy the Newark 2018 shows despite him not sounding too much better than these clips. But still, he continues to get progressively worse with each performance sadly.

I think his legacy is cemeted at this point and incapable of being "ruined", but by continuing to perform it's clear he won't be going out at the top of his game. To use a sports analogy he's like a Hall of Fame athlete waiting too long to retire and ending his career as a shell of his former self (like Michael Jordan). In an ideal world they would bring Richie back and do a farewell tour for their 40th anniversary and go out that way, but I think we can expect him to continue like this as long as fans continue to show up. The THINFS tour sold much better and was far more profitable than the These Days tour in the USA, so the poor vocals/performances have not impacted him financially yet. So I expect more of the same in the decade ahead until that changes.

Been thinking about the next tour these last few days to be honest and whether I'd end up attending. With these vids I like to give him the benefit of the doubt as always takes him a few shows to warm up. I just dont think I can ever top Wembley on the last tour ya know? I sort of went full circle. My love for the band goes back to me being young and seeing "Always" on the Live from London VHS! My oldest brother had attended - While the show was short and the vocals were mostly off, getting "Always" on that last tour, finally under the arch was a perfect way for me to walk away I think - Live anyway!

I fully get where you're coming from. When I walked away from Cologne '13, I said "if it all should end tonight, it was one hell of a ride". Then I kinda chickened out and went to Munich '19 and it tampered with my live memory. I felt full circle in 2013 and should've just kept that treasure.

I’m the same. Wembley 19 will go down as my last show. It was ok. We got no real surprises - maybe Always was a surprise as Jon was struggling way before then - and I know once tour is announced I know I’ll want to buy tickets but I just need to check out the performances in this thread to remind me of why I’m not going.

I haven't seen the band since the O2 run in 2010. And if the last O2 show is my last Bon Jovi show then I'm happy with that. I had already began to lose faith in them by the time What About Now came out, so I didn't attend that tour. I had no desire to go in 2019 and watch a struggling Jon. If Richie came back I may be tempted for one last show, but as it is, I'm happy with it ending at the O2 for me, as far as seeing them live goes.

I echo Steve and Dom really and ending on a high which is why I'm more than content with Wembley last time out being my final show. I'd always wanted to see the band under the arch, or beneath the towers as it once was and even though there was no Richie, it still delivered.

Given the circumstances at the time, Jon knocked it out the park and gave his all. The band sounded tight and the energy and atmosphere made for an electric night. The crowd were really up for it.

Couple that with the fact that anything that has come in the last couple of years has really killed my enthusiasm for anything Bon Jovi I just wouldn't want to taint that memory so for me, I'm happy with that being it.
