And as I don't use Twitter, his tweets don't get to me.
Maybe it's time to put down Heat Magazine and pick up something a little more educational?

Amen to that.

The best guitarist of his generation too.

And better than Sambora IMO, no question.

Have to agree with him about lack of creativity in promotiong the album but is that the bands doing or the simple fact that the label dont bother anymore or the pr company (if there was one)
there are loads of ways younger bands are promoting themselves be it letting the album be listened to entirely om myspace or giving away a free track from the website etc.
Even their attempt to sell WWWb as the next single didnt work.
Simple fact is that Jon and Richie have Kids so they cant be computer illterate so its just lazyness id say.Or the fact they are in their big glass tower and it doesnt matter

It’s all about the tour. That’s where the money is. So, I’d juice up the tour. Whether it be by playing "Slippery When Wet" from start to finish, the only album people truly care about, or creating a live extravaganza like Kenny Chesney’s multi-bill stadium shows. Every hair band come back to life! You know the female Bon Jovi audience, the act’s main driver, loved Slaughter and Cinderella and Winger and White Lion too…

And where’s the online contest? Find the right clues, and you get a song written just for you, the winner!

Where’s the promotional tour where you show up at diehard winners’ houses? Yup, you compete online and then Jon and Richie show up unannounced, like the Publishers Clearing House, and perform "Wanted Dead Or Alive" in your living room.

The best Bon Jovi bit of the last ten years, eclipsing all of their music, was their interview with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. Why didn’t they have Triumph do their new interview? Make a deal with YouTube to get it on the home page?
Awesome article. The band should do the 4 brilliant suggestions above (plus playing BOBITA in all shows, so that's 5). This lefsetz dude needs to be their manager. If I were Jon, I'd put him on speed dial.

ok, john mayer may have sold more copies, john mayer's lyrics may be a bit more edgy (who says being about drugs) etc. etc.
However, what's not being said here is that who says is a god awful song, absolutely piss poor, the lyrics do nothing to save it. Now i am actually a huge John mayer fan, i've bought battle studies and it is very good - but its simply not a patch on the circle. The Circle is exciting to listen to, Battle Studies is more of a relaxing album. The two are fairly different styles of music rendering them fairly incomparable in musical terms. To be honest i think is a poor choice to compare the two, it doesn't achieve much in my eyes other than saying they use different methods of promotion and John Mayer can sometimes be a mouthy git

1. Choice of TV Promo:
Let it be known that I said this all along when we were talking about what kind of promo they would be doing for The Circle (can't find the f*ckin thread). Strictly in terms of American TV, doing promo on the Today Show is pointless. Doing shows like Ellen, Oprah, etc. is pointless and just damn right silly. Most people work and those who continually watch these shows are stay-at-home mothers. Most of these stay-at-home mothers are of age when Bon Jovi was at the height of their popularity and already know of them and probably already like them or don't. They are not reaching any new audiences, particularly the younger audience my age they seem to so desperately trying to reach but don't know how.

2. Twitter:
The guy who wrote the above article is right, twitter is in and it's a popular, acceptable way of self promotion. They need to start Twittering. Richie tweets but only to try to get people to reach into their pockets and donate money to the You Can Go Home campaign and that doesn't make him necessarily relatable.

3. Choice of Singles:
It also doesn't help when you release possibly the worst song on the album as the first single. It sucks and it's not making anyone go buy the record let alone it sounds horrible live and bores the shit of diehards so I can't imagine what people who aren't are thinking during those 4 minutes.

.
The thing with Twitter being a promotional tool is the only people who hear about what you have to say is the people who are following you already. So I don't see how it would work at attracting any new people to the album.

And I'm still pretty sure that's not Richie.
